Most of our new clients come to us on recommendation from existing clients or professional advisers. We mainly operate in Newcastle, Gateshead, North and South Tyneside, Sunderland, Northumberland, Durham, Berwickshire & The Scottish Borders, Cumbria and Yorkshire. However, our specialists often consign items from further afield. We have recently sold a large collection of Marine Art removed from a house in Mallorca; Asian Ceramics and Artefacts from a collector in Singapore; Works of Art from a house in the Scottish Highlands;  and a fabulous collection of Modern Art consigned from a property near Southampton. So, distance is really no object.

Our 20,000 sq ft purpose built premises with ample free parking, located just off the A1 in Newcastle, provides bright and airy, state-of-the-art buying and selling facilities for our clients from across the world. From here in recent years we have set world records in a number of collecting areas including Rolex watches, Lalique glass and Modern Outsider Art. Our specialists offer an excellent personal service which, combined with careful marketing and a deep understanding of the world of art and antiques, ensures the best possible client experience.

We have embraced digital technology and offer live online bidding via our own platform, to complement the company’s telephone bidding and other services on all sales.

SOFAA is the only professional body exclusively representing fine art auctioneers and valuers in the UK.

The Society was formed in 1973 to provide a professional body for specialist firms throughout the United Kingdom. The membership includes leading provincial specialist auctioneers.

The Society aims to provide guidance to its members to ensure the highest possible standards of practice in all regards, and encouragement and reassurance to clients that their best interests will be served at all times.
