About First State Auctions

First State Auctions is Australia’s leading jewellery auction house specialising in fine jewellery, Swiss watches and gemstones.

When First State Auctions first launched in 1995 in Sydney, we represented a new way to purchase quality jewellery pieces – often at below wholesale prices. Since then, we have continued to grow and now hold regular jewellery auctions in all major Australian cities and regional centres, as well as in New Zealand. We conduct over 80 auctions every year (see upcoming auctions to find an auction near you).

We pride ourselves in being the only jewellery auction house owned and operated by gemmologists and diamond graders. All jewellery submitted for auction is checked by at least 2 in-house gemmologists, that’s why we can unconditionally guarantee the accuracy of all auction catalogue descriptions. You can bid at our auctions with the knowledge that you are getting what you paid for.

We are very proud to have been selected by government departments as their auctioneers. Examples of government contracts include Australian Customs and Border Protection Service and Australian Federal Police in the sale of seized, recovered and unclaimed jewellery. We are a clearance house for other commercial organisations (local & international) such as; liquidated stock from manufacturers, importers & gemstone dealers, companies closing down or going bankrupt. Our business is built on a flawless commitment to quality and service.
